Apeira
Privacy Policy
Effective October 25, 2026
The short version: Apeira processes your videos, photos and faces entirely on your device. We have no servers that receive your content, we don't collect personal data, we don't use analytics or advertising SDKs, and we don't track you.
This policy explains how the Apeira app for iPhone, iPad and Mac (“Apeira”, “the app”, “we”) handles information. It also covers this website, apeira.video.
Information we collect
None. Apeira has no account system and does not send your videos, photos, recordings, face data, usage data or device identifiers to us or to anyone else. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking code.
Camera and microphone
Apeira uses the camera to show the live filtered preview and to record videos. The microphone is used only when you press record, so your video has sound; it is requested the first time you record, not at launch. If you decline microphone access you can still record video without sound. Camera frames and audio are processed in memory on your device and are never uploaded.
Face data
Several looks (for example the Morph and Retouch looks) need to find the face in each frame. Apeira does this on your device with Apple’s Vision framework and with face-detection models bundled inside the app. For each frame it computes a small set of facial landmarks (such as the positions of the eyes and mouth) so it can align the face and apply the effect.
- Face landmarks are used only to apply the effect you chose, and only for as long as that frame is being processed.
- They are never stored, never sent off your device and never shared with anyone.
- They are not used to identify you or anyone else, not used to build a face profile, and not used for advertising or any other purpose.
Apeira does not use Face ID or the TrueDepth face-tracking data (ARKit).
Photos and videos
- Picking media. When you choose a video or a background photo, Apeira uses the system photo picker, which gives the app only the items you select — not your whole library.
- Saving. When you save a video, Apeira asks for add-only access to your photo library so it can write the finished file there. It cannot read your library with this permission.
- Sharing. When you share a video, the system share sheet sends it to the app or service you pick (for example Instagram or Messages). From then on, that service’s own privacy policy applies.
Data stored on your device
Apeira keeps a few things locally on your device so it can work: your app settings (such as the last look or intensity you used), recordings and editor projects you haven't finished or saved yet, and a temporary cache used by some enhancement effects. These stay on your device, are not sent to us, and are removed when you delete them or delete the app. Apeira also checks free storage space before recording so it can stop safely instead of losing a take.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apeira Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store. Payment, billing and your Apple ID are handled entirely by Apple; we never receive your name, email address or payment details. The app checks your subscription status on your device using Apple’s StoreKit. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your device’s Settings under your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Apple’s handling of this information is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Information Apple may share with us
If you have opted in to share analytics or crash reports with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized statistics and crash reports about Apeira through App Store Connect. These do not identify you, and you can turn this off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
This website
apeira.video uses no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Like most web servers, ours keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, requested page and browser type) for security and troubleshooting. These logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify or profile visitors.
Children
Apeira does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country), because it does not collect personal information at all.
Your rights
Because we don't hold personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. Everything Apeira creates stays on your device and under your control. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA) you may have rights regarding personal data; if you have any questions about them, contact us below.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Apeira handles information — for example if a future version adds a feature that needs to send data off your device — we will update this page and the effective date above before that change ships, and describe the change in the app where appropriate.
